นิสัยหนึ่งของแมวคือความอยากรู้อยากเห็น แม้ในสิ่งที่คนไม่เห็นความสำคัญ แต่แมวก็ไม่เคยมองข้าม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการเดินเท้าของมดตรงหน้า หรือบทสนทนาของนกหน้าบ้าน โกเมส แมวคุณชายจะคอยสังเกตแม้เรื่องเล็กๆ น้อยๆ อย่างใจจดใจจ่อ

แมวนักค้นหา เริ่มต้นจากการสำรวจ

กิจกรรมยามว่างของโกเมส คือการสำรวจ เมื่อไหร่ที่เราเปิดตู้ คุณชายจะเบียดตัวอ้วนๆ เข้าไปดูโน่นนี้ โดยไม่คำนึงถึงขนาดตัวเมื่อเทียบกับขนาดตู้ “เวลามุด ชายจะทำตัวเล็ก” คุณชายพูดแบบนั้นทุกครั้ง แล้วจึงมุดจากตู้หนึ่งไปสู่อีกตู้หนึ่งอย่างจริงจัง เหมือนเป็นภาระกิจที่ต้องทำให้สำเร็จ เหมือนมีกุญแจดอกสำคัญหล่นอยู่ที่ไหนสักแห่งที่ชายต้องหาให้เจอ ทุกครั้งที่มีโอกาส คุณชายจึงออกค้นหาอย่างตั้งใจและไม่ยอมแพ้ แม้จะได้ยินเสียงเราบอกว่า มันไม่มีอะไรในนั้นหรอก คุณชายก็ยังจะค้นหาต่อไป

แมวค้นหา คนก็ค้นหา

นี่คงเป็นความเหมือนที่แตกต่างระหว่างแมวกับคน ที่เราต่างไม่รู้หรอกว่าเราหาอะไรกันอยู่ แต่รู้ว่ามันยังไม่ใช่ มันยังไม่เจอ ต่างกันที่แมวไม่เคยผิดหวัง และไม่เคยหยุดหา เพราะคุณชายค้นหาด้วยความสนุก ไม่เคยเบื่อ ไม่เจอก็หาใหม่ ในขณะที่คน มองหาสิ่งต่างๆ ด้วยความหวัง พอไม่เจอก็เลิกล้ม และตีค่าเป็นความล้มเหลว สิ่งเหล่านี้ เป็นความรู้สึกที่ไม่เคยเกิดขึ้นกับแมวอย่างคุณชายเลย

Searching game for a cat

Cats are naturally curious. He studies everything, even small little things such as a line of moving ants or the sound of chatty birds. Gomez is a good observer of all things. He enjoys squeezing himself into the wardrobes, one after another to find something. He doesn’t concern himself about how big it or how small it is. “I’m just a tiny cat” is what he keeps saying to himself everytime he starts to prowl. It’s his mission to put his heart into every step, he focuses on whatever he finds, and never gives up although I tell him there is nothing there.

Cats and humans in searching game

There is something in common between cats and us, humans. We look for something and we don’t really know what it is. We just know it’s not right yet or we haven’t found it yet. The difference is Gomez searches for things for fun so if he doesn’t find anything, he goes somewhere else. For us, humans, we search for things with hope so if we don’t find anything, we feel despair, give up and call it a failure. Hopeless feelings never happen to Gomez. He’s happy searching for things and happy with whatever he finds.
