มีคนกล่าวว่าระยะเวลาพิสูจน์คน จริงๆ เวลาก็พิสูจน์แมวเช่นกัน หลังจากโกเมสมาอยู่ในบ้านเป็นแมวตัวเดียวที่ไม่เคยออกไปพบปะเพื่อนแมวที่ไหน ไม่เคยออกไปสุงสิงกับใครนอกจากเล่นแต่คนในบ้านจนกลายเป็นคุณชายของทุกคน ความผูกพันเกิดขึ้นอย่างไม่ต้องเตรียมอะไร มันเป็นเรื่องของการเรียนรู้และยอมรับความไม่สมบูรณ์แบบของกันและกัน เราเรียนรู้ว่าคุณชายเป็นแมวเงียบๆ ที่แอบขี้เล่น ขี้อ้อน และติดคน เมื่อคุณชายชอบมานั่งใกล้ๆ เงียบๆ ตอนทำงาน ตอนแรกก็แค่ช่วงกลางคืน แต่ตอนนี้กลางวันก็มา ร้อนก็ไม่เกี่ยง ส่วนคุณชายก็รับรู้ได้ถึงความรักที่มาในรูปแบบที่แตกต่างกันของทุกคน อยู่ๆ ก็มีผ้าพันคอสวยๆ มาพันให้เพราะรู้ว่าชายเป็นแมวชอบแต่งตัว อยู่ๆ ก็หาของเล่นมาชวนเล่นด้วย ทั้งที่รู้ว่าชายก็ไม่ได้จะสปอร์ตบอยอะไรมาก แม้แต่คุณยายที่ชอบแกล้งชายที่สุด กลับเป็นคนที่ชอบให้ขนมชายมากที่สุด และไม่เคยรังเกียจว่าชายจะอ้วนน่าเกลียด ชอบบอกให้ไปเอาขนมมาให้ชายเพิ่มอีก

วันนี้คุณชายเดินทั่วบ้านอย่างสนิทใจ หิวก็กิน ง่วงก็นอน ไม่มีเรื่องต้องกังวล คุณชายใช้เวลาทุกขณะอย่างมีความสุข ไม่ติดกับอดีต ไม่ห่วงอนาคต พอใจกับสิ่งที่มี ทั้งที่อาจจะไม่ถูกใจไปซะทั้งหมด แต่คุณชายก็มีความสุขกับมัน หรือคุณชายอยากบอกอะไรเราเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ก็เป็นได้

Someone says that with people only time will tell. It’s true with cats as well. After Gomez came to live with us, he was the only cat in the house and had no cat friends around. He enjoyed playing with people and became to us a little princely cat. The relationship was spontaneous by learning and accepting each other. I learned that Gomez was a quietly sweet, lovely cat. At first, he loved to sit near me while I worked at night, then he would come near me during my daily work as well. He didn’t mind the heat in my room. He knew everyone loved him in such different ways. He got a nice scarf for his present because people knew that he loved to be dressed up. Many toys were brought for him to play with, although people knew he wasn’t really a sporty cat. And for Grand ma who loved to tease him the most, she also gave sweets to him and never complained about his gaining weight. She loves to see him enjoy his sweets.

Today Gomez can walk trustingly around the house. He sleeps where ever and whenever he wants. He eats when he’s hungry. Nothing to worry about. No past. No future. He’s happy with the life he has and don’t give a damn if it’s not perfect. He just enjoys it. Maybe this is what Gomez likes to show us another way to live life.
