“ชายสมบูรณ์ขนาดนี้ ยังจะต้องตรวจอะไรอีกนะ” โกเมส แมวคุณชายบ่นเสียงแหลมก่อนจะร้องไห้เมื่อโดนหมอเจาะเลือด คุณหมอหัวเราะถึงความออเซาะของคุณชายที่เปลี่ยนไป เพราะก่อนหน้านี้สักปีที่แล้วมาเจาะเลือดก็ไม่เห็นเป็นไร ออกจะแข็งแกร่งกว่าแมวรุ่นๆ เดียวกัน หมอบอกว่าคุณชายคงจะรู้แล้วว่าตอนนี้เป็นเด็กคนเดียวในบ้าน ก็เลยแสดงออกมากขึ้นให้ทุกคนเอ็นดูและรักคุณชายมากขึ้น โห แมวรับรู้ได้ขนาดนี้เชียวหรือไม่น่าเชื่อเลย หลังจากเจาะเลือดเสร็จคุณชายก็ไปอาบน้ำ หมอแจ้งผลน้ำตาลในเลือดซึ่งรู้ผลทันทีด้วยเครื่องวัดลักษณะเดียวกับเครื่องวัดเบาหวานของคน คุณชายมีน้ำตาลในเลือดอยู่ในเกณฑ์ปกติ คือ 80 โดยต้องห้ามเกิน 120 ส่วนค่าเลือดอื่นๆ ต้องส่งแล็บ หมอจะโทรบอกอีกทีตอนกลางคืน พอกลับบ้าน คุณชายเดินออกจากกระเป๋าตัวหอม ขนขาวปุย แล้วคุณยายให้ขนมเป็นการปลอบขวัญ คืนนั้นหมอโทรมาแจ้งผลเลือดว่าความสมบูรณ์ของเม็ดเลือดแดง ขาว อยู่ในเกณฑ์ปกติ ค่าตับสูงเล็กน้อยซึ่งน่าจะมาจากความอ้วน หมอจึงแนะนำให้หยุดยาบำรุงขน แต่เน้นให้กินอาหารดีๆ เพื่อบำรุงขนแทนจะดีกว่า และงดให้ขนมพวกแมวเลีย หรือขนมขบเคี้ยวต่างๆ เอาละสิของโปรดคุณชายทั้งนั้น กินให้น้อยลงละกันนะคุณชาย นี่แหละคือประโยชน์ของการตรวจสุขภาพประจำปีของแมว เพราะทำให้เราจะรู้ว่าควรงด ควรลด และควรเพิ่มอะไร เมื่อไหร่ เพราะการกินทุกวันมีผลต่อทุกอย่างซึ่งก็คือสุขภาพที่ดีของแมวนั้นเอง

Tips : ค่าตรวจเลือดแมว 600 บาท ตรวจปีละ 1 ครั้ง หมอจะเก็บเป็นแฟ้มประวัติแมวแต่ละตัว ผลตรวจในยามที่แมวปกติดีจะทำให้รู้การเปลี่ยนแปลงของค่าต่างๆ ในเลือดได้ง่ายโดยเฉพาะในยามที่แมวไม่สบาย การเห็นค่าเปรียบเทียบมีประโยชน์มากต่อการวินิจฉัยโรค

การอาบน้ำทุกเดือน ก็เป็นเหมือนการตรวจสุขภาพไปด้วยในตัว แต่น่าจะต้องเป็นที่ร้านหมอเท่านั้นนะ

“I’m such a healthy cat why do I have to undergo this checkup” Gomez complained in his high pitched voice before crying when the vet took his blood for the test. She laughed at his sweetness and that had never happened before. The vet told me that last year Gomez had come for a blood test but he was quite strong boy and was never this sensitive. She said Gomez knew that he was the only child in the house now, so he was expressive in order to make people love and pay more attention to him. Oh! Do cats really realize so much about his being? I was quite sure he did. After the vet taking his blood, she told me that Gomez got 80 for his blood sugar which is normal. It shouldn’t be higher than 120. Other blood tests needed to be sent to laboratory and she would call me later that evening. Gomez arrived home with his white fur exuding a very nice fragrance. Grand ma was glad to see him home. She rewarded  him with sweets. The vet called that night to tell me that the red and white blood cell counts were normal. Gomez was a little high for his liver which probably came from too much fat. So she recommended lowering it by not giving him any sweets. Oh! Gomez would be mad if he heard what the vet had said. He loves sweets. A yearly checkup is quite useful at this point so we know when we should decrease or increase for daily intake of cat food to keep him healthy.

Tips : Cat yearly checkups cost about 600 Baht. The vet will keep all results on record so they can easily notice when something wrong with the blood. It helps a lot especially when the cat needs to be diagnosed.

Remark : The cat checkup cost and the way to do it is only at Suan Racha hospital, it is not standard or a regular price.
