“ที่แมวนอนเยอะ ไม่ใช่เพราะแมวขี้เกียจจนตัวเป็นขนหรอกนะ แมวนอนหลับเพื่อเก็บพลังงานไปล่าเหยื่อต่างหาก” คุณ Julia Layton จาก Animal Planet เขียนบทความอธิบายไว้อย่างมีเหตุผล เธอเล่าว่าแมวบ้านสืบสายพันธุ์มาจากป่า ที่ต้องไล่ล่าหาอาหารจนเหน็ดเหนื่อย เลยต้องนอนพักเอาแรงเก็บพลังงานไว้ใช้ล่าอาหารมื้อต่อไป ซึ่งแมวป่าจะนอนประมาณ 16-20 ชั่วโมงต่อวัน แต่ขณะที่แมวนอนหลับ จะไม่ได้หลับสนิทเหมือนคน เพราะต้องคอยระวังศัตรูรอบตัวจะโผล่มาทำร้าย เราจะเห็นได้ว่าเวลามีเสียงแปลกๆ แมวที่หลับอยู่จะตื่นทันทีและเริ่มระวังตัว นี่คือสัญชาติญาณที่ติดตัวมาจากป่า ซึ่งวันนี้ แม้แมวบ้านจะไม่ต้องล่าอะไรเองแล้วก็ตาม แต่ยังคงยืนหยัดการนอนวันละประมาณ 16 ชั่วโมง เพื่อความปลอดภัย เพราะใครจะรู้ วันหนึ่งคนอาจลืมวางอาหารเย็นไว้ให้ ซึ่งถ้าเป็นอย่างนั้น แมวก็จะยังเอาตัวรอดด้วยการล่าอะไรใกล้ๆ มาเป็นอาหารเย็นได้เอง นิสัยนักล่าจึงยังอยู่ในสายเลือดไม่เสื่อมคลายหลังจากอ่านบทความให้คุณชายฟัง คุณชายชื่นชมคุณ Julia Layton เป็นอย่างมาก ด้วยความที่เธอช่วยชี้แจงความจริงนี้แทนคุณชายได้เป็นอย่างดี แล้วคุณชายก็ทำท่าเดินย่างสามขุมและพุ่งตัวไปตะปบแมลงให้ดูรอบนึงก่อนจะเดินทอดน่องกลับไปนอน โชว์จบแล้วสินะคุณชาย

ใครว่าชายหลับสนิท ชายรู้ตัวตลอด

“Cats are called the top sleepers in the animal kingdom. They sleep not because of laziness or because they are sleepy creatures, they want to make sure that they save enough energy to chase or to hunt for dinner.” Julia Layton from Animal Planet as shared her articles. She said that in the wild, cats were predators or at least chased and that depleted their energy so they sleep around 16-20 hours a day to save their energy. Anyway, they don’t sleep the way humans do. They remain alert for every sound. That’s their survival instinct to keep them safe from enemies. Domesticated cats retain that kind of awareness and still sleep around 16 hours a day, though they don’t need to hunt anymore. Just to make sure. Who knows humans may forget to bring them dinner. In that case, domesticated cats can find  dinner for themselves. So cats are hunters forever. Gomez, our princely cat admired Julia layton and totally agreed with her saying about cats.
