พอกลับมาเราก็รีบบึ่งรถไปรับคุณชายที่เนอร์สเซอรี่กลับบ้าน ไปถึงแค่เรียก “โกเมส” คุณชายก็โผล่หน้ากลมๆ ออกมาจากที่ซ่อน ร้องเสียงหลง และร้องไปตลอดทาง คุณชายดูผอมลงไปถนัดตา หน้าก็ดูกลมเล็กลง เห็นคางแหลม คุณชายมาถึงบ้านก็เดินสำรวจและดมทุกอย่าง กินๆๆๆ แล้วก็นอน นอนยาว ไม่เล่นกับใคร เนอร์สเซอรี่ี่เล่าให้ฟังว่า คุณชายกินน้อย และจะร้องทุกครั้งที่มีคนเดินผ่าน มีคนบอกว่าคุณชายเสียใจที่ถูกทิ้งเลยตรอมใจไม่อยากอาหาร บ้างก็ว่าคุณชายงอน กลับบ้านใหม่ๆ ต้องหมั่นเอาใจชายให้มาก เราก็ไม่แน่ใจนักว่าคุณชายงอนหรือว่าตรอมใจ เพราะไม่กี่วันหลังจากนั้น คุณชายก็กินเก่ง นอนเก่ง เหมือนเดิม เพิ่มเติมคือชอมมานั่งเฝ้าใกล้ๆ มากขึ้น คงจะกลัวถูกทิ้งอีก คุณชายจะมานั่งเฝ้าในรัศมีที่เห็นเราอยู่ในสายตาตลอด เราว่าการห่างบ้านนานๆ ครั้งนี้ คุณชายผู้เย่อหยิ่งของเรา น่ารัก ขี้อ้อนขึ้นเยอะเลย ยอมมานั่งตักนานขึ้น ให้อุ้ม ให้กอดมากขึ้น อย่างนี้สินะที่เขาว่า “ห่างๆ กันบ้างให้พอคิดถึง คุณค่าของกันและกันจะชัดเจนขึ้น จะรักกันมากขึ้น” ท่าจะจริงนะ

When I got home, I hurried to the nursery to bring Gomez, our princely cat, home. After my first call “Gomez”, he put his round face from his hidden corner and cried. He cried all the way home. Gomez looked slimmer. His face was not as round as before. He his small chin shown clearly. When Gomez got home, he surveyed and smelt everything. He ate like a pig and slept as the dead, not playing anything or anyone. The nursery lady told me that Gomez ate very little and cried every time he saw someone pass by. Someone told me that Gomez was in sorrow because he was left alone. Some said he felt that nobody loved him anymore. I don’t really know what he really felt about that staying 10 days in the nursery because he now seems fine after a few days. He enjoys his meals  and his sleep as usual. What I feel is a change in him. He is more caring. He will come to sit nearby or sit in the corner so that he can see me at all times. Maybe he is still scared of being left alone, so he keeps an eyes on me. Now he sits on my lap and lets me hold him much longer than before so being away for a while is not that bad, isn’t it? Someone had said “We will know how much we love and care for each other when we’re away from each other” It’s quite true, isn’t it Gomez?
